Wedding Wednesday – Joseph and Mary Sharis

This picture is from a collection provided by my in-laws.  On the back is written “Mary and Joseph Sharis Wedding,” thus we know the bride and groom must be Mary (maiden name unknown) and Joseph Sharis.  However, we have no information about anyone else in the photo.

All we know about Joseph Sharis is that he was born circa 1880 in Lithuania, and died before 1930 in Connecticut.

Mary and Joseph had five (known) children: Helen (1908-1953), Bertha (1911-1964), Estella (1912-2002), Wanda (1918-2011), and Fred (1920 – 1975).

We don’t have much information about Mary. According to the 1930 census* she was born circa 1888 in Poland and she immigrated in 1905. Both of her parents were born in Poland. She is the head of household, listed as widowed.

This family is on my ever-growing research “to do” list.

That married couple in your picture are my grandparents. Can you tell me what year and where they were married? Can you tell me who gave you the picture?

I have been trying to research my ancestry and am having a difficult time so any help you can give to me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.
