This week I am recommending a post I did for Marian, the Follow Friday blogger that I recommended last week. Now just bear with me, it’s not as self-serving as it may seem (okay, maybe it is just a little bit). There are two reasons I think mentioning it again is worth my time, in case you haven’t yet read the article:
1) If you’re unaware that USGenWeb still exists, you might be pleasantly surprised when you see the vast amount of genealogy resources available to you on the GenWeb sites.
2) If you’re looking for a way to give back to the genealogy community, or to “pay it forward” there are many ways to do so through USGenWeb, not the least of which is to offer one of the coordinators your help in providing new material for their 100% volunteer website.
So I will shout it again: “USGenWeb is alive and well!” If you haven’t yet read the entry in Marian’s blog, I highly recommend you check it out.
Want to write your own Follow Friday? The following description from Geneabloggers explains the prompt:
Follow Friday is a daily blogging prompt used by many genealogy bloggers to help them post content on their sites.
To participate in Follow Friday, simply create a post in which you recommend another genealogy blogger, a specific blog post, a genealogy website or a genealogy resource. Tell us why they are important to the genealogy community and why we should follow.
